huArlo Alveolar Epithelial Cells

This CI-huArlo Alveolar Epithelial Cell Line is an improved version of the CI-hAELVi Alveolar Epithelial Cell Line. It was derived from CI-hAELVi by single-cell printing and shows an overall improved alveolar phenotype, most notably a tigther barrier formation. The cells do adapt a proliferating AT-2-like phenotype in Air-Liquid-Interface cell culture. The cells were initially described in Carius et al., 2023 Adv Sci.

Specifications of CI-huArlo

  • Characteristic expression of epithelial cell markers (e.g. Occludin, ZO-1)
  • Proliferating AT-2-like properties in ALI culture
  • Growth in liquid-liquid as well as air-liquid conditions
  • Tight barrier formation
