huVEC (hu)

The endothelium is the thin layer of cells that lines the interior surface of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels, forming an interface between circulating blood or lymph in the lumen and the rest of the vessel wall. InSCREENeX currently offers human endothelial cells isolated from the vein of the human umbilical cord (HUVEC). This cell line has been extensively characterized in our recently published Nature Communications paper [Lipps et al., 2018].

Specifications of CI-huVEC

  • Typical surface marker expression (CD31, Tie1, Tie2, CD309)

Following assays have been performed and validated with the CI-huVEC cell line:

  • Tube formation matrigel
  • Acetylated LDL uptake
  • eNos activity
  • in vitro angiogenesis (Heiss et al., 2015).
  • VEGF induced proliferation
  • TNF-alpha stimulation
  • Barrier formation
