huEGC Enteric Glial Cells
Enteric glial cells (EGCs) are a large population of the enteric nervous system (ENS). They play an important role in gut regulation and mediate enteric nervous system signaling. They are known to be involved in intestinal homeostasis, epithelial barrier integrity, and gut defense. InSCREENe developed a novel EGC line using the CI-SCREEN technology (recently published in Nature Communications; Lipps et al., 2018). In a joint collaboration project between The University and Policlinico San Matteo, Pavia (Italy), KU Leuven (Belgium) and InSCREENEX, the huEGC line was established and extensively characterized (Zanoletti et al., 2023).
